This is mainly for the people in the Salt Lake City, Utah area BUT some ideas can be done anywhere!!
Let me begin this by saying that the perfect date doesn’t exist. It will be awkward, embarrassing, odd but that makes it even more fun! If everything went perfectly then you don’t really have much of a fun story to tell later on.
1.) My first recommendation is and will always be GO ON A HIKE TOGETHER. Hikes are a fun way to see beautiful views and get a little exercise. You don't have to feel obligated to talk the entire time because you'll be taking pictures, heavy breathing, maybe holding hands (depending on how many dates you've already been on) and just enjoying the great outdoors. Another way to spice up a hiking date is to bring a picnic! You get all the way to the top and get to eat some good ol' sandwiches while you bask in the beauty of the overlook view.
Some Hikes that are good for dates:
-Willow Heights Trail. Big Cottonwood Canyon. 2.2 miles & a lake at the end.
-Twin Lakes Trail. Big Cottonwood Canyon (Behind Silver Lake). 2.3 miles & a lake at the end.
-Lake Mary. Big Cottonwood Canyon. 2.6 miles & a lake at the end.
NOTE: The Donut Falls Trail makes you look like a sissy if you claim to be an experienced hiker. (but acceptable if you are going for a simple no-sweat hike or snowshoeing in the winter)
2.) Movie in the mountains. You can take a laptop, projector or small television to watch a movie under the stars. Enjoy either in the bed of a truck or in a small tent. You can make this date even cute by bringing tons of super cozy pillows and blankets! If going up into the mountains is too much for you, try a backyard or fun common area.
Disclaimer: This kind of date may be for a couple who knows each other rather than a first date kind of thing.
3.) Ice Skating!! Ice skating is a fun and inexpensive excuse to hold hands or be a little clumsy so your date can catch you.
If you do not prefer to hold hands on a first date, it's always cute to do little races with each other or drink hot cocoa afterwards. It is usually cold at the rink, so this gives the boy (or girl) and opportunity to "lend" their date a coat as well.
4.) The Snowbird Tram. This tram ride is a gorgeous top mountain view without the sweat of a hike. Snowbird's Aerial Tram takes you to the hidden peak of the mountain. At the top is a cafe with hot cocoa, soups and assorted foods to buy. This ride is 20 minutes round trip but you may stay as long as you wish! Take photos together, warm up inside, and enjoy the scenery. If you are keeping an eye out around November you can catch the free tram ride of the year and go then! 5.) Gardener Village. Need I say more? October is the best month to visit Gardener Village but it is open year round. I personally recommend visiting the Chocolate Covered Wagon.
This shop is well known for their candied apples but they also have fresh pulled taffy, fudge and many other homemade goodies. Gardener Village is very good at planning little events for people to attend so research their website before going.
6.) Harmon's Cooking classes! These classes range from $25-$55 per person, depending on the type of class. They have baking classes and knife technique classes. I recommend a fun baking class like their holiday themed or pizza making class. This is a more expensive option but it is a date that would not be forgotten.
7.) Better yet, have your own cooking class! You could set up an entire evening to bake pizza, cookies, pie or anything your date would like. Be sure to ask your date what their allergies are and if they can eat the foods you want to prepare.
